A thread can be defined as an inclined plane around a cylinder and is equivalent to an inclined plane. Conversely, the development of the thread is an inclined plane. The self-locking phenomenon means that if the line of action of the resultant force Q of the active force acting on the object is within the friction angle, no matter how great the force is, there will always be a total reaction force R to balance it, and the object will remain still.
Conversely, if the line of action of the resultant force Q of the active force is outside the friction angle, no matter how small the force is, the object cannot maintain balance. This equilibrium condition, which has nothing to do with the magnitude of the force but is related to the friction angle, is called the self-locking condition. The balance phenomenon of objects under this condition is called self-locking phenomenon. The resultant force R of friction angle and self-locking normal reaction force N and friction force F is called the total reaction force of the support facing the object.
